Trail Talk
Mrs. Smith
Dear Peralta Trail Families,

It’s hard to believe we are already nearing the halfway point of the second quarter! Time truly flies when so much meaningful learning is happening across our campus. Our classrooms are filled with engaged students, creative projects, and the positive energy that comes from watching our students grow both academically and socially. I am so proud of the effort, curiosity, and teamwork that I see every day from our students and staff.

As we move into this exciting part of the school year, there are many wonderful events to look forward to! This Friday from 5:00–7:00 PM, we’ll be celebrating together at our PTO Fall Festival and STEAM Night—a fun evening for families filled with hands-on learning, games, food, and community connection. Then, on Monday, November 10th at 9:00 AM, we invite you to join us for our Veterans Day Assembly as we honor and thank those who have served our country.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we are building a community where every student feels valued, inspired, and ready to learn. Let’s keep up the great work as we move toward the second half of the quarter—Peralta Trail is truly a place where learning shines!

With gratitude and excitement,

Mrs. Smith

Butter in a jar

Homemade Butter - Edible Science!

Bring on the classic science, and let’s make homemade butter with kids! This must be one of the simplest science projects, with no waste, because it’s completely edible! It can be so gratifying for young kids to be able to see and taste the final product of their hard work.

Butter In A Jar Recipe
Supplies:
  • Glassware with lid {mason jar}
  • Heavy whipping cream

STEP 1. Fill your glass jar about halfway with cream, you need room to shake the cream!
STEP 2. Make sure the lid of the jar is tight and shake.
Making butter requires a bit of arm strength, so you might be trading off with your kids unless you have a house full or classroom full of them!
STEP 3. Check your homemade butter every 5 minutes to see the changes.
After the first 5 minutes, there is no real visible change. At the 10-minute check-in mark, you should have whipped cream. There’s no reason you can’t sneak a taste at this point just so you can see what’s happening! Continue shaking the jar a couple more minutes until you reach the 15 minute mark...Smooth, creamy, delicious homemade butter all from shaking cream in a jar! How cool is that for kids? Enjoy it on your favorite bread!

Drop-Off and Pick Up Procedures

Safety is a priority and we want to make sure that the procedures are followed for a smooth arrival and dismissal. Any transportation changes MUST go through the main office (480-677-7540) no later than 1:00 pm.

Please remember the following:
  • Gates open at 8:15am, there is no supervision prior to this time; students should not arrive early
  • Pull all the way up in the car loop for drop-off and pick-up
  • Blocking the car loop is not permitted, please park if you need to go into the office
  • Parent drop-off students, walkers, and bike riders will enter school at the front gate upon arrival
  • Please make sure that your child is exiting the car on the passenger side of the vehicle
  • Have your student pick-up sign clearly in your front passenger side window at dismissal
  • Parent pick-up students will exit school through the cafeteria back doors as staff call their names
  • Car loop students will be dismissed first for the safety of all, then parent walk-up will be dismissed
  • We encourage all of our families to use the car loop for a more efficient and safe dismissal for all
  • PTES staff will supervise and assist with drop-off (arrival) and pick-up (dismissal)
  • Please be patient and on time

AJUSD Cell Phone Policy

Last year, AJUSD adopted a cell phone policy for our campuses. Thank you for your support and reminding your child of our Cell Phone Policy. Last year we only had a few issues and students were more focused during the school day. If a student has a cell phone, once on campus they are to turn it off and secure it in their backpack as it is not permitted to be out during school hours. Please see the new policy below:
